The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 amend the 2015 regulations and are effective 1st October 2022. The key changes are: For “solid fuel burning combustion appliance” now read “fixed combustion appliance other than a gas cooker” i.e. the amended regulations apply to all fixed combustion appliances not just solid fuel. Where, following a report by a tenant or by their nominated representative to the landlord, a prescribed alarm is found not to be in proper working order, the alarm is repaired or replaced.
