If the Gas Safe engineer uses paper Gas Safety Records they should leave a copy for the tenants. However many engineers now complete records of gas safety checks on a tablet and e-mail a copy to the landlord or agent later who will then issue a copy to the tenant. Landlords have a statutory obligation to ensure a copy of the record is given to each existing tenant of premises to which the record relates within 28 days of the date of the check and we routinely send a copy of records to all tenants using their preferred method of communication.
