Unless expressly excluded by special conditions in your tenancy agreement, the loft is part of the property for which you have exclusive possession. If the roof space is nothing more than a void between the ceiling of the room below and the roof with insulation and has not been designed to be used for secondary purposes (other than just being a void space), you need to give careful consideration to safe access to/from the roof space and using it for anything other than the purpose for which it was designed.
