Hive smart controls are a feature most occupiers of the property would consider to be beneficial. The addition of such controls to an existing system are an ‘improvement’ as opposed to a ‘repair’ so the landlord is not obliged to do this within the scope of laws such as the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.

Such alterations to the heating system should be done by a competent person (typically a heating system engineer or an electrician) so the cost/benefit (to any existing or future occupier) of such an alteration needs to be considered before any commitment is made.
